oneDynamics at FabCon Europe 2026 – AI agents, business context, and a new beginning for Power BI

How does working with data change when an AI agent can independently perform system migration or consolidation? What does it need to fully understand the company? And what do a more affordable start with Microsoft Fabric and new capabilities Power BI mean for an organization? These topics dominated FabCon Europe & SQLCon Europe 2026, which took place in Barcelona from September 28 to October 1. Piotr Ożdziński, Principal BI Consultant, represented oneDynamics.
This is Microsoft's largest European conference dedicated to data. Approximately 5,000 participants from 70 countries attended, and the program included over 130 sessions and more than a dozen workshops on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI , and SQL.
From AI that offers suggestions to AI that does the work
The conference opened with a keynote titled “The Data Foundation for AI,” presented by Arun Ulag, Amir Netz, and Shireesh Thota. The theme of the keynote was revisited in many sessions: AI in Fabric is no longer just an assistant. Increasingly, it acts as an agent that is tasked with carrying out an entire assignment, while humans define the goal, set the parameters, and receive the result.
Achraf Cherki Elidrissi and Naresh Venkat demonstrated this best during the launch of Project Osmos, a data engineering agent in Microsoft’s Fabric (public preview). During the demo, the agent merged the data of two companies following a merger: 260,000 customers, 730,000 contracts, and 4 million transactions. It took the agent an hour and a half to complete the task, without any human intervention during the process. It automatically merged 35,000 record pairs, flagged 1,250 questionable cases for manual review, and didn’t fall for any of the 400 intentionally planted traps.
Business Context Is More Important Than Technology
The more work an agent does, the more important it is for them to understand the company they work for. Julie Koesmarno and Sharad Bajaj, as well as Carly Newsome and Sara Vredevoogd, discussed this during a session on integrating Work IQ with Fabric IQ. Fabric IQ provides agents with insights from data and semantic models, while Work IQ provides context from emails, meetings, and documents. Fabric IQ in Microsoft Copilot is now generally available.
The announcement of semantic views follows the same line of thinking. Metric definitions are intended to be placed where the data resides—that is, in OneLake in Microsoft Fabric. Microsoft has also joined Snowflake in supporting the Apache Ossie open standard, and DAX has become its official dialect.
A More Affordable Start with Fabric and Power BI : A Closer Look at the Apps
The new SKU F0 drew the loudest reaction from the audience. This capacity option does not require an upfront fee, and billing is based on actual usage (public preview). It’s worth noting that the pricing has not yet been published, and capacity overage—which is enabled by default when creating capacity—is billed at three times the pay-as-you-go rate.
During a keynote on future development directions Power BI Eun Hee Kim and Lauren Faber announced Fabric Apps for Power BI Pro and Premium Per User subscribers, without the need for storage capacity Fabric. The apps will feature a built-in SQL database, allowing users to save and validate data directly within a report. Sujata Narayana, meanwhile, demonstrated how to create reports and semantic models using agents, including through the widely available PBIP and PBIR formats.
Safety in the World of Spies
As agents are given more and more freedom, the importance of security also grows. Arthi Ramasubramanian Iyer and Amanjeet Singh presented new security measures at the individual workspace level, such as Private Link and IP Firewall. A recurring theme throughout many sessions was that an agent should be a separate identity with the narrowest possible scope of permissions. Aviv Ezrachi and Teddy Bercovitz spoke about deployment automation and CI/CD at Fabric .
Business Central at OneLake and Polish Accents
From our perspective, the announcement of data mirroring with Dynamics 365 Business Central to OneLake (preview). Data from the ERP system will be able to flow directly into analytics and AI solutions in Fabric.
There were also Polish speakers. Mariusz Wójcik and Piotr Balik led a session on SQL injection attacks, and Paweł Ekk-Cierniakowski spoke about automating invoice processing in Microsoft Fabric.
We would like to thank the European Microsoft Fabric , and SQL Community Conference for organizing the event, and all the speakers for their insightful sessions and numerous hands-on demos.
AI agents in Microsoft Fabric are increasingly performing data-related tasks on their own, but their effectiveness depends on a well-defined business context and thoughtful security measures. At the same time, F0 and Fabric Apps in Power BI Pro lower the barrier to entry for Fabric.
